Creation of the Office of the Lord High Chancellor of the Principality of Gabon

LETTERS PATENT

GetSkinny, by the Grace of God, of the Principality of Gabon, Queen, Defender of the Realm, to all to whom these Presents shall come, GREETING!

Whereas We are desirous of making effectual and permanent provision for the office of Lord High Chancellor of the Principality of Gabon, without making new Letters Patent on each demise of the said office;

NOW KNOW YOU that We have thought fit to constitute, order, and declare, and do by these presents constitute order, and declare, that there shall be a Lord High Chancellor of the Principality of Gabon (hereinafter called the Lord Chancellor) in and over Our Principality of Gabon (hereinafter called Our said Principality), and that the person who shall fill the said office of Lord Chancellor shall be from time to time appointed by Commission under Our Sign Manual and Signet.

[Conferral of powers and duties.]

And we do hereby authorize and command Our said Lord Chancellor to do and execute, in due manner, all things that shall belong to his said command, and to the trust We have reposed in him, according to the several powers and authorities granted or appointed him by virtue of these present Letters Patent and of such Commission as may be issued to him under Our Sign Manual and Signet, and according to such Instructions as may from time to time be given to him under Our Sign Manual and Signet, or by Our Order in Our Privy Council, and to such laws as shall hereafter be in force in Our said Principality.

[Appointment at Our pleasure.]

And We do hereby declare Our pleasure to be that the appointment of a person to the office of Lord Chancellor shall be during Our Pleasure by Commission under Our Sign Manual.

[Great Seal.]

And We do hereby require that there shall be a Great Seal of and for Our said Principality which Our said Lord Chancellor shall keep and use for sealing all things whatsoever that shall pass the said Great Seal.

[Lieutenant Chancellor.]

And We do hereby declare Our pleasure to be that, in the event of the death, incapacity, removal, or absence of Our said Lord Chancellor out of Our said Principality, all and every the powers and authorities herein granted to him shall until Our further pleasure is signified therein, be vested in such person as may be appointed by Us under Our Sign Manual and Signet to be Our Lieutenant Chancellor of Our said Principality: or if there shall be no such Lieutenant Chancellor in Our said Principality, then in such person or persons as may be appointed by Us under Our Sign Manual and Signet to administer the Government of the same. No such powers or authorities shall vest in such Lieutenant Chancellor, or such other person or persons, until he or they shall have taken the oaths appointed to be taken by the Lord Chancellor of Our said Principality, and in the manner provided by the Instructions accompanying these Our Letters Patent.

[Obedience to Chancellor.]

And We do hereby require and command all Our Officers and Ministers, Civil and Military, and all other the inhabitants of Our said Principality to be obedient, aiding, and assisting unto Our said Lord Chancellor, or, in the event of his death, incapacity, or absence, to such person or persons as may, from time to time, under the provisions of these Our Letters Patent, administer the Government of Our said Principality.

[Oath of office and others.]

And We do hereby require and command Our said Lord Chancellor of Our said Principality to take the Oath of Allegiance to, immediately after the public reading of the Commission appointing him, take the Oath for the due execution of the office of Lord Chanchellor in the form following:

I, A. B., do hereby solmenly and sincerely swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen GetSkinny, Her heirs and successors according to law, and I will, to the best of my skill and knowledge, execute the powers and trust reposed in me through the office of Lord High Chancellor of the Principality of Gabon, by doing right to all manner of people after the laws and usages of the Principality of Gabon, without fear or favour, affection or ill will. SO HELP ME GOD!

And We do authorise and require Our said Lord Chancellor from time to time, by himself or by any other person to be authorised by him in that behalf, to administer to all and to every persons or person, as he shall think fit, who shall hold any office or place of trust or profit in Our said Principality, the said Oath of Allegiance, together with such other Oath or Oaths as may from time to time be prescribed by any laws or statutes in that behalf made and provided.

[Privy Council to keep Lord Chancellor informed.]

Our councillors of Our Privy Council shall keep Our Lord Chancellor fully informed concerning the general conduct of the Government of Our said Principality, so far as they are responsible therefore, and shall furnish Our Lord Chancellor with such information as he may request with respect to any particular matter relating to the Government of Our said Principality.

[Modification.]

And We do hereby reserve to Ourselves Our heirs and successors, full power and authority from time to time to revoke, alter, or amend these Our Letters Patent as to Us or them shall seem meet.

[Proclamation.]

And We do further direct and enjoin that these Our Letters Patent shall be read and proclaimed at such place or places as Our said Lord Chancellor shall think fit within Our said Principality of Gabon.

[Present Letters Patent to have effect as law.]

And We do further declare that these Our Letters Patent shall take effect as part of the law of Our Principality of Gabon on the 15th day of June 2018.

In witness whereof We have caused these Our letters to be made Patent.

WITNESS Ourself at Balmoral, the 14th day of June, in the 1st year of Our reign.
